I recently purchaced a case from http://www.coolpc.com/ the THEON Cyclone 5000 Ultra Rev2. Let me tell you. This thing is SWEET. Before I got the case i was idleing at 65c. Now I idle at 42c. Havnt done too much extensive testing with high loads but so far this is really running nice. The intake / outake is just about equal giving a very good air flow. If you dont want to hastle with drilling and cutting your own case, this would be a VERY good alternative. Espically for high end AMD's.

Either way... I plan on doing some big time testing tomorrow with over clocking... but as for now it's 4am EST. To answer the question about the noise... the fans are quiet.. the air going through the case is a little loud. but I'm getting about 230cfm so I guess that comes at a price.

Even though you could of buy the same case and put the fan yourself and save a cople of extra $$$ ;)

But the case is sweet ;)

65C?
lol, did your computer case reside waterproof? I mean if that was your unoverclocked temp or even overclocked, lol, I am just speechless, you sure you didn't mean 65F or 42F??? Anyone with 65C temps will fry the cpu when max loaded.

No, the idle temps were around 65c not f. And this was at the normal clock rate. The ambient temp was around 85f. This processor can hit 70c before it needed to be shut down. One major issue is the fact that I'm using an ASUS A7A266 and the temps that are reported are usualy 10degrees f. too high.

With the new case running quake 3 and an open GL graphics demo in the background for about an hour the temps were around 48c not the BIGGEST load per se but good sized.

My roommate has yet to hear this beast though and I'm sure he'll be very happy with me :P. It is a bit loud but considering I'm using regular antec thermal paste and the antec jetcool (copper based) heat sink which isn't GREAT but its midgrade. If I had a good sink and used some real paste then I'm sure this would run VERY cool... So far the only complaint is the noise.

I oc'd it from a 1.2ghz to 1.4 with no problems idleing a little higher at 47 and have yet to test it under a heavy load.

you are funny, idling only at 47?:D :D :D Get out the bango and let's celebrate...
But really, get serious, I mean you wouldn't like to wake up to find a smelling dead bird on a nice sunday morning. Get MBM5, find out the real temps, get some Artic Silver II, then o/c, I suggest you underclock till you know what's going on, unless you don't care for your bird. (also, make sure case cooling is literally a breeze)

Thanks for the help and for being so nice about it... anyhow, even w/ mbm5 the temps reported are the same as by the bios. not all tbirds need to run at 36c. And no I'm not some 10yr old or a newb w/ comps by any means... I'm a grad student going for my masters in comp sci. I think the main issue is the paste and my sink... anyway got to go...
