Whats sad is that an SLI setup costs almost that much and is quite a bit faster. Once again ATi loooves teh vapor ware

This isn't the retail price....allstarshop always charges amounts like this for new cards, cause idiots will buy them for this price!!!! Just watch!!!

Well one thing about Allstar is that they usually have the cards when no one else does. No doubt their price is beyond rediculous, but they are the only one who has these cards right now.

Monarch does have a pre-order page that states 'shipping Jan 14th' on a first come first serve basis' for $715. I tend to trust them so if you are in the market for one of these cards, that might be your best bet right now.

ati's site NEVER sold them, i waited 3 months becuase i had it for $450 after a coupon, they never came in stock, they still arent, and now they took them off of their site, i like ati's products, but i HATE how they always lie about release dates.

Well, I've read a few articles and all says that if you have an x800xt pe, it would not worth the upgrades to the x850xt pe. Only yields 10% more in performance.

If you have a x800xt-pe, it wouldn't make sense to upgrade until the r520's are out.

Unless you got money to waste, that is.....

I REALLY hope no one is stupid enough to buy these.......

It's people who buy cards at these prices that ruin it for the rest of us :(

EDIT: ZipZoomFly has them also...for $750

ZZF is a pre-order also thats why ASSHOP thinks they can get what they're asking......no one else has these yet.

you dont think ATI is behind the price insanity. i do! maybe allstar is the highest bidder. i had the feeling ATI was behind the price festering when they dropped AGP support because they know the PCI-E market is ripe for gouging.

then they have the ballz to tell their stock holders they missed their estimates because of suppy issues.

The truth is you dont need that much card, in my opinion. If one aquires an x800pro then thats all you really need for intense gaming. Getting a better card than that just means you like to spend lots of money, or have the money to spend. If your pullin 70-100 frames in 1280x1024 with high settings then whats better then that?

Its the min framerate that counts to me. In HL2, high settings at 1280x960, on the xt-pe youll be around 45fps min FPS whereas the pro will get you in the mid 30s area. In Doom3 the the xt-pe gets you even lower in the mid 30s and the pro in the mid 20s.

These are ingame benches....

http://hardocp.com/article.html?art=NzAyLDc=

I could care less about the max fps or Avg. I dont want the min fps to dip to unplayable levels when im in the middle of a battle which is why i mainly look at the min framerate on ingame benching.

'05 wasn't out yet when that card went through. I was still on a DFI NFII setup back then lol. It
was a first production run card and the cores have gone steadily down hill since then from what I
have seen.

645/642 will get ya over 7000 with the drivers set at high quality.

No. While the core is still largely R420 at heart it and the process were tweaked to allow better
clock speed yields (read will OC better to much better on average) and of course native PCIe
support. The bios memory timings have also been relaxed some.
