I had just decided to order a Sapphire RADEON 9800 Atlantis Pro 256mb but i learned it was out of stock (or it could be dis-continued! could someone please confirm this?) could anyone recommend a good graphics card for around £200? i really had my heart set on the 9800 pro but just as i ordered it, it was out of stock  any help will be really useful!

c'mon guys, i really need some help! Half-Life 2 laughs at my current graphics card! (nVidia 5500 GeForce FX 256mb)

I dont have a clue what i should go for, i just need some advice, Im sure i could get a pretty good 'kick ass' Graphics card for my £200 - £230 price range ($376.412 - $432.874) i am devistated that i couldnt get the radeon 9800 PRO :( (or maybe they arent dis-coninued on one site its says it will be in stock in 7 - 14 days, but i think its lying)

I would get a 128mb 9800pro, the extra ram has no benefit unless you are running over 1600x1200 with anti-alaising. Now, if you were to buy in the US, you might get an X800XT for that price, but seeing as things are more expensive over there, I would say probably a 6800nu.

How much are they going for?

oh and btw Whats the difference between the 9800pro 128mb and 256mb?? e.g. Clock speed and stuff and O'C pentencial? i've saw the 9800pro 128mb very cheap!, so it must be a little bit slower

Is this the right one, cos the reviews look promising!

Perhaps I am not converting right, but that price is suspiciously low.

Anyway, the 128mb 9800's have about the same clocks I think, perhaps 20mhz slower on the ram? Not something you would notice without running 3dmark and comparing scores. And, I would think the 128mb would have more overclocking potential.

6600GT is what you're looking for. Way quicker than the 9800 pro.

Ditto, the 6600GT is the way to go if you are going for the biggest bang for your buck.

Yep if you can find a 6600gt it would outperform the 9800pro.

here is a link:PNY Verto GeForce 6 6600GT AGP8x 128MB GDDR3 (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=81344)

By the way if you need to edit something on a previous post there is an edit button at the bottom of each post, so that you don't have to double or triple post.

CLick on the Nvidia or ATI link for info on clock speeds and what not, though you do have to remember this may vary slightly from different manfacturers.

I hope this helps you. The 6600GT is a good card so don't loose no sleep not getting the 6800nu.

Thanks alot for your advice!

My 6600 came today, and my 3Dmark Score went from 1492 to 7082 (would be higher if i had a better processor) @ 500/900, i could OC it to 550/1000 but i dont wanna break it

Glad you like it, as I understand it the 6600GT has some highly overclockable memory and the core is not too shabby either. Good buy.

Yeh, the memery is good, but when i overclocked it and tested it on 3dmark everything was patchy (But im just gonna leave it the way it is) Also the fan is very noisey!!!

6800 plain and 6800 NU are the same things aren't they?? It just means non ultra. The LE means the crippled one. Please don't tell me you payed £200 for a 6600GT!! You can easily get a nice 6800NU for that. 6600GTs are meant to be £130ish. Oh and I haven't seen any 9800ps for £200, they are about £140 max for a 128mb one.

I paid £131.58 for it, and the radeon 9800 pro was a 256mb, which was £200
