View Full Version : Is it the 300W that is causing this problem?

When I start the system up, it gives me 8 short beeps consecutively, and about a one-second pause before it starts over. I think this means something with the AGP slot, but I am not sure. I have two video cards, and neither of them are working on the KT3 Ultra, but they were on my other mobo. They both give me the same 8-beeps. When I remove the video card, its the same 8-beeps, when I remove the RAM, it gives me 1 long beep consecutively. I am using an Athlon XP 2800+ on this board, and I dont think that is causing me the problem.

It may be my PSU that is causing this problem (see below), but it was working fine with my old mobo before.

SYSTEM SPECS-

AMD Athlon XP 2800+
512 PC2700 DDR RAM
MSI KT3 Ultra
Radeon 9800Pro/9700
300W PSU

It possibly could be your PSU. It's really hard to say though.

What brand PSU is it? Plus what are the rails (12v, 5v, 3.3v) rated at on it?

You are going to have to change either the power supply or everything else and find out what is really responsible. It's just a guessing game from here.
