I'm having serious overheating problems in my CPU. The temp are about 60 degrees celcius IDLE and I didn't try in Load because I was afraid of the temperatures.
Here goes my setup:

P4 Prescott 3,2 FSB 800
Ati Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro 256 Mb
2x512 Mb RAM OCZ Platinium Edition PC3200
1x36 Gb WD Raptor 10000rpm ; 1x160 Gb Seagate 7200rpm
Abit IC7-MAX3

I guess this is the essencial information.I would aprecciate if anybody give me a few advices on hao to solve that problem.

What cooler are you using? Have you applied thermal paste? Did you try to reseat the heatsink, perhaps there isn't good contact. After market cooling is always a good option is you haven't already done that. Your idle temps even on a stock cooler shouldn't be over 50C.

If it's an earlier gen prescot, they ran bloody hot on stock coolers too.

I had a 2.8E that ran, at stock clocks, 72C under load.

Insane!

I have a standard cooler from P4, but I'm not sure if the cooler is well assembled because the guys who sold me the computer were the guys who assembled it, so I'll probably remove the cooler to check if they put thermal paste and if it's everything ok.

You guys know any good tutorial that can help me assembling the cooler for CPu , with pics please. And another question, which thermal paste you guys recommend to put in my P4 Prescott 3,2?

Can you explain what you mean by "assembling the cooler for CPU"?

I think we're are all in agreement that Arctic Silver is the best thermal paste available.

how many case fans are you using? do you have good case ventilation? i find it best to use soemthing other than a stock cpu heatsink. AS5 goes a long way too.

all copper heatsink and as5 moved my temps down 10-15° with good ventilation.

I have 7 case fans and i think I have a great case ventilation because I got the Thermaltake Xaser 3000 and it looks very good in ventilation.
