You can buy things made for grills at Walmart, Kmart, etc., that stuff should be pretty cheap, mnpctech.com and go to the mod store, he has some too, its more expensive though.

McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com/)

They have every kind you could want.

MC Master does have all kinds, but not at the quantities we want. The smallest piece I could find of hexagonal hole modders mesh at MC Master is 36"x40" and costs $31. Part #92725T22 if anyone is interested. Do you know if MC Master has it in smaller, or custom sizes?

McMaster Carr's cheapest perforated mesh is item# 9232T221
Aluminum Perforated Sheet 36" X 40", .250" Hole Dia, 58% Open Area, .032" Thk
In stock at $29.97 Each

If you're using alot of it they have the best price per foot. If you want a smaller piece get it from http://www.mnpctech.com/moddersmesh.html

Or try to find a local supplier. Automotive or a metal supplier.

Anyone think that it wouldnt be strong enough as the outer skin for a case? instead of just putting over a window?

20mm is really thin and you can bend it easily with pliers. Especially so if you use the aluminum stuff. Go thicker for anything you need to use as protection.

the best mesh to use even for case sides or whatever is available at Home Depot, It is the mesh used in security doors. The sheet is about the same size as most doors and very strong. appx cost is $7.95. I think it comes in two colors; black and white. Black they always have.
I had been looking at this stuff to craft up some motherboard trays for a cluster computer I am working on. best part of that is mondo ventilation!

Excellent, thats what I'm looking for. How large are the sheets?

The Mesh I found at Home Depot is sold in a large flat sheet, about 44" X 80" give or take a couple of inches. I believe it is just slightly larger than a standard home type security door. Plenty for a project. At my local home depot it is not in any door aisle, they keep this mesh in the security Fencing area, with that plastic Lattice work, Go figure! :eh?:

Best part I like about it is the painted (Enamel?) finish. If mounted in a frame of some sort it is extremely strong.

OMG. a very sincere apology to those getting ready to run over to Home Depot...
Either they had the price of the mesh wrong... or a sign was in the wrong place at the time I was checking this stuff out.

I had gone there to get a sheet of it, and now the price was marked at $18.95!!
still cheaper than some places but still, here I am telling everyone how great it was at $7.95!! :bang head
maybe I had the correct price at one time, but not now. Again, My most sincere apology to everyone wanting to grab up this stuff. :(

Edit: Home Depot called it Galvanized screen Mesh.

if its for small applications (fan grilles ect) i would go to the dollar store (dollar general) and get some paper sorter things, they are made of a wire mesh stuff and are cheap, like a couple dollars for enough to do like 10 fans. but then again for a whole case in it... it wouldnt be big enough sheets.

If you're trying to find it through hardware or industrial supply ask for "expanded" sheet, mesh, or grating.
