View Full Version : Low 3dmark Scores? 6600gt.
Hey guys.. I recently ran 3dmark03 and 3dmark05, both "shareware version" on standard settings, because I did not want to purchase the Pro version.
I own a
AMD barto 2500+ @ 1.833ghz
1 gig PC3200 ram
XFX 6600gt w/ stock settings and DNA Force 71.74 drivers
3dmark03 = 7072
3dmark05 = 3242
I know 05's minimum processor is 2ghz, and thats why I did so bad, what about the 03 score?
Any ideas?
I have tried to reduce all the settings possible, that I know off.
Thanks for your help
dan
Those score are probably about right for your system. You should oc that 2500+ to 3200+. That can be done quite easy.

Those look ok to me. Your biggest limiting factor is your FSB. If you are running stock on both your video card and CPU, then that is a good score.
i have not touched the video cards speed.
Not sure where to start, been used to ATI cards.
My amd is OCed to 1.833, next step is around 2.. maybe ill try that.

If you have a barton 2500+ and pc3200 ram all you need to do is set your cpu multiplier to 11 and your fsb to 200mhz. You may need to bump up your vcore alittle to become stable.
Just download coolbits and you are ready to oc your vid card. Remember to watch the temps.
well, I am running an OCed vid card and my AMD @ about 2ghz..
3dmark03 was 78XX ..
but Americas Army @ 800x600 with all normal settings barely passes 40 fps.
What gives?
I dont know, maybe my expectations of this card are far too high

Did you install the chipset drivers?
ok
Chipset drivers, as in my Mobo Chipset?
Chipset: VIA KT600 + VT8237
I got the new ones from via, hyperion or something 4+1 drivers.
will look at the VT8237s
My benchmakrs are fine after lots of searching, but my gameplay leave some to be desired.
will look into the rest of the chipset now

definatly only get 40-50 on the lowest settings.. when goin through the training. online is about the same.
around 150 in the begining menu.
hl2 is around 40, with lowest settings, as well as CSS
CS works about 100 fps, and sometimes on some maps drops to around 80. CSCZ sometimes goes over 100, and usually is around 80

Everything that I know that can be updated on my mobo, has been.
Just flashed my bios, apparently a new rev came out about a month ago, via chipset updated, and the others updated.
AAO, is a screaming 300 fps in the menu, and then goes to 30-40 in marksmanship training.
sigh

FYI your processsor is equal to 2.5 Ghz, that's why it's called 2500 which means 2500 Mhz or 2.500 Ghz.
Even though it really is only running at 1.83 Ghz, its performance is supposed to be equal to an Intel processor running at 2.5Ghz.
so what do you guys think?
a few guys at the tech forum over at dslreports think I Should RMA it for a nother one.
I have tried everything, even bought a new PSU.
I installed it on a clean format of windows, but obvously doesnt help.
PS, when I run driver cleaner (i have been switching drivers around) it cleans some files, but it says alot are still left over. any idea here?

Just as a comparison, This is a 3dmark03 of my system before I put in the second 6600GT.... http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=3586031 .. Since my setup is good amount faster than yours (A64 3800+ W/ PCIe) I'd say your score is pretty good ;)
Felony, I actually have similar scores to you.... i have a pcie 6600gt (chaintech, not OCed) and a 3200+ A64 @ 2.22GHz.
On CSS stress test I get 75fps w/ 2xAA and 2xAF...which is pretty good in my book - and the game plays really well.
However, my damn 3D mark scores are still mediocre...dunno what's up with that....
i understand the 3dmark scores are OK.
gameplay is definatly lacking thouihg IMHO
frames in AAO are around 40 at minimum graphics, and CSS stress test is 75 on lowest settings an res
