6600GT and alternat PS?

Anyone know if it would be functional to supply an XFX 6600GT's external power source from a seperate PS that is running the MB and drives?

What do you mean functional? Do you mean, "would it work"? If you supply power to all the parts then it should work. It doesn't matter if you pipe it in from the next state.

If there is no CPU then it will not work.
