Maybe its just me, but I can't find a Gainward Card anywhere.
At least the 6000 and up. I've had very good luck with Gainward cards over the past few years.

Someone please bring me "in the loop".

I'm waiting to finish a couple of games that my 4800 just doesn't seem to have enough punch to play properly.

Thanks all.

That's exactly what I was wondering about.I have not seen a 6xxx card since September on Newegg. I thought I saw one at CompUSSR but it was gone when I came back to take another look the following week.
I guess their yeilds are not good enough to pass QC :)

Ya, have my heart set on a gainward 6600GT AGP.
Guess it will be worth the wait, there is a real shortage of nvidia 6xxx cards right now everywhere.

I had a 6800GT GS that failed and I was told in no uncertain terms that Gainward is getting out of the US Market in regards to theie VideoCards. After 1 1/2 they could get me a replacement and I was refunded my money. Might not be the same issue for the 6600Gt's.

Jump on this deal from Directron if you have the cash. $345 for the PNY.

Thanks for the heads up curt123, I may have to break open the piggy bank for that card, you don't hear too much about the PNY's around here, mostly BFG, XFX stuff.
I'm shedding a tear for no more Gainward what a bummer.

Gainward was bought by Palit. They are in the process of being merged. Thats why.

Ok, don't want to sound like a complete noob, but, i'm running a XP2500M @ 2400. Is the 6800GT going to be an overkill or will it be a nice WOW when playing games, MOH Pacific Assault, Half-Life, Doom III etc.

after upgrading to a 6800U from a 6600GT, it was a BIG difference. In doomIII anyways. even overclocked, the 6600gt at 1280x960 on ultra settings stuttered. now i run doom at 1600x1200 and ultra settings and it's smooooooth. and btw my mobile is only a little faster than yours so i think you'll get similar performance.

Overkill? whats overkill  :D LOL....

Bro thats the #1 rule in Ocing...there is NEVER a time where ANYTHING is overkill. If you like the 6800GT, which I certinaly do, go ahead and get it.

btw if you cant find a decent price check out:

www.gameve.com

I belive they have an Albatron for $370 or so.

I had my 6800GT in 2 of my 2500+ rigs and its a HUGE improvement over my 9700pro or my 9800XT. You will deffinitly see a nice improvement.

Thanks for the feedback. What I meant by overkill is the idea that some games are more cpu intensive than others, and my cpu isn't near what a new A64 949 pin will perform at.

i was searching hopelessly for the geforce 6600gt (agp/128) made by gainward. i found the powerpack (ultra/1960) on a few sites, but none in the US or north america for that matter.

so i finally called atacom.com a large retailer/onlinestore for gainward in the bay area of ca. i asked about the geforce 6600gt and when it might come out... he told me they have since went out of business due to the aggressive competition recently in the gfx card market... he also said this was worldwide, however i dont think thats true being the recent releases by gainward.de of the 6600gt.

bottom line, if you are in the US, we gotta wait. notice the usa version of gainward hasnt been updated as far as news for quite awhile... whereas other parts are up-to-date, gainward.de for example.

I would give up on Gainward. They made great cards but you can't get them.I was crushed when they didnt replace my card. Gameve tried to give me an XFX as a replacement for my 6800GT GS can you believe that? I told them to refund my money several times until they did. I hopped on a PNY 6800GT and its great, clocks almost as high as the GS with 1 slot and much quieter, the GS was LOUD and huge.
