Hey guys, got a question for ya. Do any of you know when some newer sound cards will be coming out? I know of the Audigy 4, but it costs too much and i have no use for the breakout box, not to mention that ive heard the card dosnt have like any new features that make a difference to me. Im thinking about buying a new soundcard pretty soon but im in no hurry. If there will be some new cards coming out anytime soon, i might as well just wait, but if not, ill probly just pick up an Audigy 2 ZS.

I'd get the Audigy 2 ZS. If you wait you MIGHT see a Soundstorm card from nVidia, cheaper Audigy 4 cards, and maybe Via might release something too.

From what I have heard there really is not that much more on the horizon for near future. Like alphasl said Nvidia might create a stand alone card but other than that its just waiting for creative to put out a new version of the soundblaster.

I think with the new Intel HD-Audio spec out now we will see tons of new sound cards. Maybe we will see an audigy that sounds good. Doubt it
I'm running the new intel HDA Azalia and I'm impressed. I use the Dolby Digital Live! encoding and feed the AC3 stream to my Yamaha receiver. My board has the C-Media 9880 chip on it, but I've never tried using regular computer speakers.

except for the fact nvidia said it closed its audio division and had no plans at all for any further development of soundstorm. creative pushed them out like everyone else.

except for teh fact that nvidia CONFRIMED that they are currently working on a new soundstorm solution but it wont be implimented on the nforce 5 or any forseeable future nforce boards. They said it will debut in an unexpected way, which most people think means it will be the audiosubsystem for ps3 and/or a retail add in card.

I thought they said last year they were definitely pursuing the addon card but pci didnt supply enough bandwidth for on the fly encoding so they were waiting for PCI-E.
