have you seen the thermal death article on toms hardware guide?

I guess that Intel does have some pluses(sp?) after all.

I was disappointed by the palamino smoking.

even the PIII did not die

will AMD improve this any time soon?

Intel has a thermal shutdown protection thingy feature.

use proper cooling and it's not even a concern.

maybe AMD would impliment such a feature, then make it's multiplier un-un-lockable... and then charge you an extra $100
for the same Athlon... then it'll suck just like Pentium.

why anyone would say AMD has downsides is beyond me!
if ya have the extra $$$ to waste for a worse O/C'ing and lame performing P4.... then go buy it! ya want it? keep it!

AMD has made awesome boxes available to hobbyists.
Intel likes to charge 3x as much for a chip that ain't worth 2/3 the price. this keeps their product out of reach. a bad business move.
we like to O/C, they try to eliminate the possibility.
we take risks... they make it so it will put us in the poorhouse should something go wrong.

Intel could make a better product, and cut AMD's throat with the cost... nope, too greedy. just like Micro$haft.

impliment a program such as MBM5 to give you thermal shutdown. it's free.
spend $50 on a good cooler, or $150 on watercooling.
you have still spent less money, and are now going much faster w/AMD

why waste hard earned cash on HYPE?

consider someone who is OCing and their fan dies.
we buy high cfm fans to keep the chip cool. When air flow drops to zero then what?
What is the MTBF on the cheap aquarium pumps that people are using in water cooled systems?

I think that because we over clock our systems, the heat sensing circuitry is even more of a benifit.

How much cost would the heat sensing circuitry cost? an extra 4 bucks? I would pay an extra 8 bucks to have some back up to my cooling system.
wouldn't you?

i would to but it isnt like we have that as an option when we buy AMD chips its like add thermal sensor (+$8)
