Hey guys, i have my new system together and its great but my temps are a little high for my tastes---> idle - 44C load-51
and that is with a room fan blowing into my case. I have a globalwin wbk68 at the moment, but i think i will replace it w/ the thermalright sk-6...any opinions on that? also i am putting two more 80mm fans in front to blow air into the case...in the back there are already two 80mm's blowing air out, plus the power supply fan. I'm not overclocking at the moment, but i do have an ibm 40 gig deskstar at 7200 rpm...will i need a cooler for that?
and my vid card is a leadtek geforce3 it has its own heatsink and fan on the chip, but should i put in a slot cooler for it? i havent had any lockups etc...thanks for the help!
p.s. i also am using artic silver 2

Some people have reported quality control problems with more recently manufactured SK6s, so for this reason I'd suggest either getting a Millenium Glaciator, or waiting till the Alpha PAL8045 becomes available. OR you could always consider watercooling if you have the time/fundage to dink with it . . . .

I have a pretty new SK6 and it works great. The slot cooler is a good idea, I've always used one with my GeForce cards. It take out a lot of warm air from underneath my current GeForce2 GTS Ultra.

Rather than loading up with all those fans, I simply drilled a blow hole in the side of the case directly above the SK6. Then I made up a duct so the 40 CFM YS Tech fan could suck in nice cool outside air into the SK6. Current temps, 36C idle/39C load using Arctic Silver.
