Ok..I have a Gateway computer then I dont need for very long...in about 6 months(When I get my tax return), my brother is going to build me another computer. My computer is probably one of the worst that I could have gotten(but at the time I was trying to save money). Intergrated modem/graphics card with the motherboard and such...

ANYWAY, I want to know how to overclock it, and get the most out of it, while I have it. I have been reading articals on how to overclock with the Wire Method. That artical by Anders Peterson was very nice. ONLY problem I have it..I dont know what motherboard/processor I have. I know its a Pent III 733. Thats all I know. Can anyone help me?

I have never heard of overclocking with the wire method.
Try looking on the motherboard for a mfg. name or part number.

Unfortunately there is rarely any way to overclock an oem computer. Even when these companies use motherboards that are similar to models that can overclock, they generally make their own changes that remove any means with which to overclock. The wire trick that I and some others have talked about is a way to raise the processor's operating voltage, but that in itself is not overclocking. It can help you gain stability when you are overclocking, but it doesn't overclock the computer by itself. If you had a computer with an Athlon processor the story is a little different. You would then be able to change the multiplier on the chip itself, but even that is not entirely easy and foolproof. Your best bet is to look up the part number on the board and see if Soft FSB will work with it.
