I just built a new computer. It is an AMD 1.33 ghz (266 FSB) on an MSI Pro - R mobo. the case is usually running at about 50, which i do not want. i have 2 80mm fans (intake in front, out is in the back) i was just wondering, since i am planning on putting 2 92mm fans on the side. should i make one of them intake, and the other outtake, or both intake??????????
please help.

your other post says CPU @ 40 celsius, if your ambient (case temp) is at 50 celsius that is impossible, your temp sensors might be playing up a bit...

as to your other post, cooling the rest of the case down should drop the CPU temp too! put in an extra fan at teh bottom front on the side of the case, and an extra one of the same CFM top rear, or even on the top panel of the case. or just leave the side fo the case off, see what that does to temps

And welcome to the forums!!! :)

IMO i think that you should have the 2 92 side mounted fans blowing and on the mo bo, then configure the other 2 80mm fans to be blowholes

That's ture, added 1 blow hole on top of the case decrese my T-bird temperature by 2 - 3 C at full load

i would like to make this thing quiet enough so that i can sleep at night, since it is about 10 feet from my head.......

The Panaflo 120mm M1A running at 86.5 CFM with 35.5 dB-A. and the Panaflo 120mm L1A running even lower dB (69 CFM, 30 dB-A)

i would rather not put 120mm's on the sides, too big of holes.

92mm's at the most, possibly some high efficiency 80mm's

Personally I think putting intake fans in the side panels creates "cross-flow" and can disrupt overall air-flow. Granted this can be overcome through extremism, but do you really want 11-12 case fans? Didn't think so!

I'd mount one 92mm in the lower-front as an intake, and mount the other in the top of the case @7v as an exhaust, and ditch the 80mm fans . . .

 I added twin fans on top and decreased my temp. about 10 degrees also cut the front and rear wire grinding away which improved my temps abit.

A fan on the side of the case is superb for cooling the graphics card (although this will screw up smooth air flow). An exhaust blowhole on the top of the case is also a good idea.
Remember to heve as much air escaping the case as entering it. Otherwise you will create a dp which could pull dirty air through your drives etc. Not desirable.

I didnt really want 11 case fans even thought that's the total my of fans my case has :) but when i turn on teh front, side and rear ones my case temp drops from 42C to 22-25C
Having all of them ON its like working at the airport

I have a 92mm intake at front with a Radio Shack Turbo Fan pulling air from it (as it passes by on its way to the mobo) blowing towards the agp and the cpu.

1 92mm Exhaust at top side

1 80 mm Exhaust rear middle.

With all fans off, my idle mobo temp is 36c and cpu 37c
With Intake on (only) my mobo falls to 27c and cpu 35c.
With side exhaust on (only) my cpu falls drastically to 30c.
With both on and rear middle my mobo drops to 25 and cpu drops to 29. Room temp 21c. BTW 1.2G@1.4
