anoying as hell...

when i play cs:s for about 15-20min my computer freezes up, and restarts. when it logs back in it tells me that my card was the cause of the instability, and that the driver couldnt proccess a certain task. that makes no sense? any reason for this?

temps are all good, i was thinking it might just my cpu... not stable enough. any suggestions. this happen to anyone else? is it the drivers?

no i havent. but i shouldnt have to.i am using the new nvidia drivers. i mean if they release the drivers for there cards, then there shouldnt be a problem with the driver.stupid nvidia.

Stupid nVidia, stupid ATI, stupid Microshaft, yeah okay, now that we've established that they all release stuff that doesn't always work, are you going to try a different driver? ;)

LOL, which ones do you recommend? do the older drivers have the temp readings, or is that just the new ones? or is that cool bits?

how about the 71.2x somethings on guru?

okay i was on another forum and they were saying try the 71.20 forceware ones. they are supposivly better. so i will try those. dam card.. giving me this ****zle....

The 7X series are still fairly new, but maybe the 71.40's. If they don't help. backpedal a bit, try anything in the 66X series. Trial and error, so many of these drivers are beta.

well 71.20's blow fat @$$. so i need to find some new ones.
all though my score rose 50marks on 3DMark05. to 5521.

i dont get it, they give me better scores, but they are not perfroming that great in cs source. i see like little gitters here and there. with the 69.xx i never had that but my score was 80marks lower on 3DMark05... i do not get these video cards at all.

3DMark is a synthetic benchmark, it doesn't run on a game engine. Forget about 3DMK scores, they're for bragging rights, nothing else, they don't pertain to the real world.

With 3DMK, you turn all the eyecandy off, to get the best score, then when you go into a game, with a real game engine, and have eyecandy turned on, it just doesn't work as well. Tune your system/card to your games, not 3DMK. :)

No sh*t!? We do a lot of work down there, I work for Kempenfelt Windows, the guy I work for subs to them, White Elm Contracting, Perry Thompson, based in Bradford. White Elm is on Pace Cresent. Man, everytime I head to Bradford, I cruise by Vampire and the classics shops, just got to look at all the eye candy, those guys do some sweet work on the cars. I drive over that way, even if it's out of my way, heh heh heh. :attn:

haha will do. okay as regards to my card here, umm i tried 66.77. it froze in halflife 2 but didnt restart. she wanted to but didnt, i am gonna try source now, and see if it restarts. but the odd thing it only happens i hl2 and cs:s not halo. i think halo beats your card pretty hard. but i dunno.

Sorry man, I just went back through the whole thread, none of us dropped you a link to Guru3d, in case you didn't know about it. All kinds of drivers, and driver cleaners(very important) there, get Coolbits 2.0 while you're at it, if you haven't already.

turns out my o/c was too high. it was 2mhz too high on the core. so now i am at 424/117. runs fine now. just that 2mhz was causing the crashes, i cant believe that. oh well didnt lose any performance.

i dunno if anyone has said this, but have you tried using one of the presets? i have it on my card..

it was at the preset. 426/117 was the preset. it automatically set it at that. but it was just too much for the core.
