View Full Version : Help with Dell Insprion XPS Notebook.
Alright where to start...
Windows XP Pro SP2 was installed on my notebook from Dell but I wanted to reformat because they had installed abuncha junk on there that I dont need.
I go to grab the Windows XP cd but to only find that they had shipped the wrong cd (Windows XP Home Edition), and I am unable to install it because my Windows XP Pro cd key does not work for the Windows Home Edition.
I grab my cousins Windows XP Pro cd and reformatted and installed with my cd key Dell gave me but alot of the devices that Dell had previously installed arent installed anymore.
Where can I get the drivers or how can I override this problem? ...

You should have a drivers disc. It's other then your Windows XP CD they did not give you. Also, if you have a ATI Mobility 9800 you will have to download that seperatly. Any drivers your unable to locate I can get to you one way or another. I reloaded my XPS 2 weeks ago so I've been there done that. :-) IM me on AIM or e-mail me if you need further help.

BTW, you better call Dell and give them some hell. I know you paid a lot like I did for the XPS so you deserve your support cds.
Yeah for sure I am going to give them alot of hell. Thanks again for all the help XunknownX.

dell xps users get express tech support (so a 5 min wait time instead of 20) :)
www.support.dell.com has all the stuff you need (somewhere)

Use another computer to download the NIC drivers from Dell's site so you can get our XPS online. Then download all the drivers you need.
Then call Dell and yell at them. You'll have a driver CD the next day. I've gotten a few PCs from them that were missing the driver CD (never had a prob with the wrong Windows before tho).
