I was going to go down to a local hardware vendor and try get myself a Duron in the mean time until I get a replacement T-bird for my desktop(and which I'll probably have to use again, at this rate). I don't really know much about them, though...do they all run at 100 MHz(ddr) fsb? If so, is it worth any increase to put them at 133 at a lower multiplier? Will it affect the chip? My ram normally runs at 133 ddr(or higher ;) ) so that wouldnt' be a problem.

Currently they all run at 100x2FSB.

You can try to run it at 133x2FSB and a lower multiplier, but some motherboards have issues, anyway it won't hurt the chip to try. I'd advise penciling in the L7 bridges to get a higher initial Vcore, this seems to help Durons post at 133 sometimes.

After a quick look at the "CPU DATABASE" it looks like you have an excellent candidate for overclocking with the average 750 hitting about 980+MHz and the AKCA's hovering around 1G.

I've had very good success running several DURON's at 133+FSB.

Just follow the generally accepted overclocking methods in your quest for a higher performing CPU.

Good Luck!

Durons are great! I have one right in front of me, just in case something happens. You never know!

I think if you get the right Duron stepping, even a 600 can get
to 1.ghz. I would think that would be with W/C though. There
is a 850 that can get over 1.1ghz. I forget the stepping.

AE 86, by the way, nice overclock!

One of my AKBA DURON 600's will do 1.13G, I backed it down to 1G for the summer and will get it back up when the weather cools down a bit.

I probably could get more out of it with some exotic cooling measures. I've stayed with the Global Win FOP 32 and the WBK 38.

I still have one of these AKBA 600's in the desk drawer and I'm thinking about another motherboard, either the EPOX with the AMD 761 chipset or wait for one of the forthcoming boards with the VIA KT266A chipset in the near future. Maybe then I'll play around with it some more and see if I can improve my returns with these CPU's. Regardless, they've been great to this point.

Good Luck!

I ordered a Duron 700 to replace my 1.2 gig T-Bird that died. Then in a month or so I'll get a 1.4 or 1.5 T-Bird and i'll have a backup then.

I'm going to take this chip to it's limits though. Do you recomend connecting all the L7 bridges to max the Vcore out to 1.85? Or would you go a bit lower?

My Duron 900 is running at 1.2 with 1.69v with stock HSF and radio shack thermal paste. Multiplier is 9x and stepping is ANCA

I have a 300W Deer PSU and one 2800RPM 80mm case fan

Temps max out at 49 full load with a system temp of about 38

Oh yeah mb is Epox 8KTA3.....and its my work computer
