Ok I am not talking about pay some compay to give you a .com and some room on a server. I was wondering how a home user would get a .com site. Do you just set up a server and make that its adress or something? I was just wondering because since their are lal these sites that charge for a .com I know it must be possible to make your own, atleast I would think.
You set up a server and buy a domain. Doesn't cost anything more than the price of the domain.

You have to register your .com with a Domain Register.
I pay 20 dollars a year for my domain name. and 65 dollars a year for my host, who gives me unlimited band width, multiple mySQL DB's and php/ perl suport
