I have a Geforce 6600 GT OC (525/1.05). I like the overclock on this card. Coolbits optimized settings placed it at 571/1.14. I tried to go further but couldn't w/o artifacts. I tried to put some AC5 under the heatsink but I couldn't push the pins through, so I'm running on stock cooling.

Anyway, I'm happy with my numbers - except for 3dmark 2001 (14K). I've seen others get 25K. For '03 I got 8239, '05 was 3420, and Aquamark3 was 44,557.

I am running an Athlon XP (1.8GHz/133MHz) overclcoked w/ volcano 12 heatsink to 2.165/160MHz and still running somewhat cool at or below 50 degrees. I have 3 sticks of pc3200 with 1260MB total (1024MB is dual channel).

I downloaded the latest drivers for forceware (6693) so my driver version is 6.14.10.6693.

My Question is, "What can I do to improve my '01 scores?

2001SE is quite CPU dependant...what's the rest of your system look like? And btw you wont get 25k on a 6600GT. I know of many people on 6800s who cant get that score.

Better cooling and some Arctic Silver would be helpful in your pursuit of power. Based on the numbers you are posting now, I'm betting you could get close to if not 600/1200 with your board once properly cooled. With those speeds, you would be seeing closer to 4000 in 3DMark2005. Let us know what your other system specs are, as there may be an additional bottleneck somewhere else.

My system is:

Athlon XP 2200@ 2.165GHz/160MHz
1260MB of pc3200 (1024 dual channel)(256+512x2)
80 GB Seagate SATA HDD
6600 GT OC @ 570/1.14 AGP 128MB (stock cooling)
NF2S-ALH mobo (from XFX)
2 80mm rear case fans
Rosewill 450W psu

I couldn't find any fans for the 6600 models, only the 6800. Do yall know of any and what are they and were can I find them? I know that on the 4th or Feb. stasisthermal.com will have one, but do you know of any that are currently for sale?

I found the VF700-Cu vga cooler, but I want to know what kind of temp decreases I will see. Do you know?

well.. I found a review (its dutch i think) http://pda.tweakers.net/?reviews/546

They test it on an x800 pro, seems to work nicely. Dropped the x800pro's temps 28C. I know its not a 6600gt, but it gives you an idea.

Yes I do. It is by and large better than the VGA silencer. On idle your 6600GT will be close to ambiant. On load it should be a mear 10c* higher. Example:

Amb/case temp: 30

Normal <45-50c* idle, load = 65-75c*>
Zalman <36-40 idle, load 47-55c*>

Should be just like the 6800 in terms of temp reduction. -10 from your idle temp 25-30c* from load

While testing the first run of prototypes, I have found that the STASIS IceStorm cooler has been able to drop temperatures to be within 5-7C of ambient at idle. (ie 30C Ambient - 35C Core) Peak temperatures have been reduced markedly, and under full load with high ambient temperatures (> 40C) board temperatures have been well controlled and kept between 55-65C depending on the clock speeds. Peak overclocked temperatures are slightly higher, as the memory and core generate significantly more heat as the clock speeds climb.
Bear in mind that this heatsink is dissipating both the heat generated by the core as well as the GDDR3 ram. IR surface temperature testing of the ram running at stock speeds without any supplemental cooling showed temperatures in excess of 165F. Overclocked, temperatures exceeded 180F. Clearly GDDR3 memory, especially when overclocked needs to be actively cooled.
As a result of the improved cooling, the test board, previously shackled at 583/1150 has been able to now run at 605/1210 artifact and crash free, all while maintaining LOWER temperatures (both core and ram) than before! Now that's progress. :)

im getting good temps out of my stock cooler for my bfg 38 idle and 49 load.
