My system just recently started developing a noise I can't track down. It is a groaning intermittent sound. I think it may be a fan but I can't locate it. Are there any diagnostic programs available that could possibly help troubleshoot this kind of problem?

Thanks,
Dan

not if its a fan...which it probably is. Try replacing some..starting with the CPU fan! If that isnt it, it can't hurt to have an extra around for the day that it does go out.

my diagnostic program is my finger... I touch the backpart of the fan and make it stop (in the center... um... not the blades) and if the noise stops, it's probably the fan.]

You can also disconect the power, but that isn't quite as direct.

Yeah the finger diagnostic tool found it. It's the northbridge fan. I'm gonna put a Zalman fanless heat sink on it. Right now.

Thanks,
Dan :burn:
