Yes, but games take a lot longer to develop now. Plus, they made sequels of their most popular games. I'm sure that's what the majority of the market wanted.

There are just soo much series of sequels that keep selling. Many developing studios survived because they had a single hit that provided them with enough money and credit to wait out for their next.

Games are like the stagnant american film industry sequels make money, can you add EA to the list as well.

ID isn't making Quake 4. Raven is. ID just gave them the rights to the Doom III engine.

AFAIK, they are making the Doom III expansion, however.
