setting up cable conn...

can I just set up the tcp/ip for my lan by typin back in the gateway, ip, etc.? its a cable conn. and i just wrote down all the stuff from the conn. i have now plus the ident. and workgroup. Is that enough?

What do you want to do? Most cable modems have DHCP which will give out ip address info if the connecting computer has dhcp turned on for the ethernet interface.

You don't need the ident and workgroup info.

i'm using @home and i need to put in some unique ident and the workgroup @home. i got it working but i dont know how. i installed all the clients and put in all the old info, and it just worked after a couple reboots. i'm gonna go through it again just to make sure.
