i reformat window, but i didn't plug the HDD in (it was a storage HDD), so when i plug it back in, everything is found, and everything is still in there with the correct sizes, turned out, none of it is "correct" and all my media play can't play it, what the hell is wrong with the drive? i cant' believe this, what kindda problem is this? the drive is fine, because it was a huge drive, i split it into 2 different ones, and the other partition works fine. I really need to recover the files, help.
Is it just your media files that cant play, is that the only problem with this drive? It may just be that you have lost the file associations for that drive. You may need to reinstall the media software with that drive pluged in for what you use to play those files. You may need to check the file associations: My Computer| toole|folder options|file types. It could be other things, is this a USB connected drive, if that, does it come with any software. Sometimes just a reboot with the drive now connected may get windows to correctly ID those partitions. What OS is this?

it's an IDE, and i don't think it's the file association because i pulled it into a different drive and i still can't play it :(

It seems that all the files is there, but the data is not right for the files.
OK whats the OS and how do you know th files are there? Can you see them can you click on them? If you can whats it say when you do. Can you Rclick on my computer, manage then what does your system tools, event viewer, system and application logs say and the storage, disk management say? It could also be permissions, but im just fishing here, someone may have an answer. You most likely can do recovery but I dont think that is the issue here but it may be the easy way to go.
