Anti-Freeze Questions

I was at the auto store today and was looking at their anti freeze products for my system. Every product was antifreeze/coolant. The issue for me was that a friend told me the ideal fluid to put in my system is antifreeze without coolant or just regular antifreeze. I couldn't find this anywhere in the store and was wondering what you guys think? Is antifreeze without coolant neccessary? Is there a better brand of antifreeze? Ok thanks for the help.

what properties of the antifreeze are you looking for? its anti-corrosive properties, its biocidal properties....?

Both its biocidal and anticorrosive, I'm basically looking to have distilled water and some form of anti freeze in my system. I use a Tank-O-Matic Res and I heard Water Wetter makes it crack. Oh yea, I'll also add some UV Dye/Food Coloring but that doesn't much matter...

oh, i was gonna suggest some water-wetter, but if you think it'll be bad for the res...
i'm pretty sure there's not that much difference between anti-freeze brands, id say get the most standard/generic kind you see.

i think Aphex_Tom_9 is right...just get whatever is cheapest or to your liking. I read around and people only buy certain anti-freezes for the color. iono. maybe i didn't read around enough =P

Well the thing is, my friend told me to get an antifreeze that doesn't have coolant. I went to the auto store today and they all were antifreeze/coolant. I really have no idea as to why I'd need it without coolant. My friend didn't know why either but I am scared to take chances as I've never done watercooling before.

If youre looking into something for rust and corrosion id reccomend getting zerex protector. A small bottle (14.5oz) can be bought for $3-4.

what about making sure anything that tries to grow in my system stays dead and the issues with the innovotek tank o matic res cracking?

Cracking the res...Ive never heard of the zerex causing anything like that. For bacteria try some alcohol?
