Hi all,
I am building a rig for a friend of mine and have everything but the RAM. We have at the most $240 Canadian in the budget for the RAM and I think I have made up my mind on what I will get for him. Does anyone have any experience with OCZ Premier RAM? More specifically, OCZ DDR PC-3200 Premier Dual Channel Link (http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr_pc_3200_premier_dual_channel)
Its about the same price as the value stuff but has CAS 2.5 and value ram is 3.0. I will be OCing so I am most interested in the OCing ability. It will be in an A8V and processor is S939 3000+ winchester.
Any other suggestions are welcome too, thanks :)
I'm using it now. Don't expect more than 220FSB with 1t at stock timings. My Premier doesn't like voltage and changing timings don't help. I'd say go hand pick some Kingston for Hynix BT-D43 or Infineon chips that's used for the OCZ VX line.

I just built my friend a fairly budget 939 3200 machine. We picked up this ram, it does 220 fsb just fine. I haven't tried to go any further since he is a chicken and thinks that any Overclocking will kill your CPU. He doesn't even know that I upped it 200Mhz, I just couldn't resist :p

Anyone knows witch brand of memory they have?
My thought is they are low end Infineon chips. This is based on their response to voltage, and the timings.

Cool, thanks for the input. I'm thinking 220 is pretty decent for the price of the RAM, I can't really find anything better for 220CAD. I shouldnt need more than that to OC his 3000+, I'll just use dividers.

OCZ is now recognized as a very good RAM manufacturer. despite how new they are to the game, they're making a very good entry into the world of overclocking. i can't see how the RAM will fail you, but you might be able to find something with better overclocking capabilities for the same price.

If anyone has suggestions or experience with fairly cheap RAM good for OCing please let me know. Its confusing trying to figure out continually changing types of memory chips, without a new rev# even. One week its Infineon, the next its who knows what. Doesnt help that there are no decent mem stores where I live so I cant hand pick RAM, i have to order it.

Yea that is a low grade form of Micron. I recognise the 46V32. As stated before, dont expect much past 220 with them :(

That is the same crap my corsair had on them...I was pushing to get 220 and had to run my ram at 100Mhz to run past 240 and 250 was about tops with the divider...
