Hi...I was just wondering if the brand of the video card matter...Asus obviously have the highest prices in the market...but does the brand really matter...??...they still use the same chip...
I'm planning to buy a GF2 GTS 64mb ddr...the asus ones are like around $215 cdn...but other brands are like 180 cdn....so i posted this thread just to see people's opinions...thx for replying...:)

Usually the respected brands will user faster memory and higher quality components. So the card will usually be faster and more overclockable if its brand.

Yes!!! Brand does matter. What the off brand cards are running is the chips that the makers (ATI, Nvidia) sell to them, cause they are the chips that didnt quite pass the full speed tests. So what you get a lot of times when you buy an off brand card is a board that is clocked lower than the major brand named cards. Most of the time they dont OC as high for this reason either. You can however get a good deal on the off brand cards, but just dont expect the same performance as you would get from a major brand name card.

of course get a named brand card

they use higher quality components as tuk101 said and better ram resulting in higher o/c which equals higher speeds and higher scores
