Where do I get Powercolor X850XT PE BIOS?
Is it out, or do I have to wait just a little longer? :-/

I have Powercolor X850XT and it's oc to PE without any problems.

It's not out yet...I think. I'm just lucky to have one because the store I bought it from here in Sweden just had 1 x850xt. They will get more in 1/3 -05.

Have you ever tried to use the PE bios on the 850 XT? Curious whether it worked - thinking in getting a XT yet wanting a PE...

Wouldn't just OCing it be the same? Does you x850 run @ 540/590? I too have an non-PE, built by Sapphire running @ PE speeds.

nope, changing the bios does a little more (changes a bit ofthe cards architecture, right??)

the bios on the powercolor is the same as every other x850 xt just use any x850 tx pe bios with the same ram config should be samsung 1.6 ms i recomend the ati bios at techpowerup.com i did the exact thing xt to xt pe with my x850 all the x850s are the same down to the resistors pro/xt/xtpe as far as i know

no performance wise but i cant tell for shure i did it as soon as i got the card but it does give u braging rights and u dont have to mess around with the oc program i did however get more overclockability 10-20 mhz mem

no mater how bad u screw up the flash (if u do witch u wont if u do it right) u can always fix it with a pci vid card ps use the latest version of flash rom.exe from techpowerup.com

Is there a utility that auto matically restores BIOS if it fails... like a self-installing disk or sumthing. Cause i don't have a PCI card, and 20mhz sounds sexy :D

sean478

no not that i know of but as long as u dont reset the rig in the middle if the flash and only load the x850 tx pe bios with the right ram config it cant go wrong any way that i can think of make a backup of ur old bios with ati tool and make shure the flopy is good (you dont want a bad sector in the middle of the bin file)

unreal89 if u have a 9500 pro there are 4 disabled pipes on it u could unlock with a softmod or a bios/ hard mod it will give u a real performance boost (1800-2100 3dmark 05)

No, the 9500PRO has 8 pipes, 128bit. The 9500 non pro has 8 pipes (4 working) and 256bit memory if its L shaped. Those can be unlocked, but mine are already unlocked.

I'm happy with it so far and I really think I would blow it if i tried a vmod..lol

About the OC...shouldn't I see any artifacts before it crashes?
I haven't seen a artifact at all.. =/
The system only hangs..
I think it's weired though.

guys, hi, new here.
maybe someone already wrote this but I have a sapphire x850xt and would like to softmod it to xt PE, where to get the bios? and the stupid questions: how safe it is? can I get just the ATI bios or need something from sapphire?
thanks for the patience from Denmark...
