View Full Version : Overclocking winxp
I have a P4 2.8 Ghz notebook, 512 RAM, winxp SP2 (Japanese notebook). I've been having a few problems with my windows. I'm not sure if it's my notebook or my windows. There are slowdowns on my computer and sometimes on windows explorer, I would receive errors and forced to close the windows explorer.
What should I do? Should I get the Hijack this software and post the results. I've never used that before.
Thanks

i wouldnt overclock a notebook
Are you having these problems with your lappy at stock speeds? If so, try reinstalling windows xp.
Yeah, I have not changed anything on my computer except for updating my winxp to sp2 recently. It seems to go a little faster but I don't think as fast as I first opened the laptop the first week.
About reformatting, I didn't receive a recovery CD with this purchase. I would have to purchase from SONY a 15$ recovery CD.
Is there anything else I can do?
Thanks

If I remember correctly, when I bought my Sony Vaio (which did come with a recovery DVD) the models that didn't come with one came with a program that allowed you to make your own recovery DVD using a blank DVD and DVD burner. Check to see if you have a similar option.
You're right actually. I never really saw it cause it was in the program menu and it was written in Japanese characters. Thanks for the tip.
It says Application Recovery or System Recovery. Have you ever done one or the other? I don't actually wanna recover my whole computer because i have alot of files that would take me awhile to backup. Is there a way I can just Recover the C: drive which contains the windows files?
Thanks
