I'm getting ready to upgrade OS to Win 2k Server from Win XP pro...

I have late model hardware... and I am wondering if the drivers from Win 2k pro will work as well on Win 2k Server?

If all you are doing is massive serving then, 2k server is what you need. If it is just small files here and there then you should be fine.

Edit: Heh, I guess techically it isn't an "upgrade"... going from Win XP pro to 2k Server...

What I'm really concerned with is the hardware drivers... I have already used Win 2k pro and had no problems... I'm hopeful that the 2k pro drivers will work with the 2k Server OS... that they are compatable or the same... would mean a lot less head aches than if the Sever OS has to have special drivers...

If your talking about doing an "Upgrade" you should know its not possible to upgrade XP with an older product. You'll need to do a clean install.

Yeas... I do know that(after backup)... but about the drivers?

Are Win 2k pro drivers the same or compatable with Win 2k Server OS?

They will work fine.

2k pro and 2k server should require the SAME drivers, so if they work in 2k, they will work in 2k server.

The windows 2k service packs are the same and will work on all windows 2k varients.

Anything that works in an xp variant will work in a 2000 variant. Did they even have 2000non-pro?

Nope, they were working it, but it never made it all the way. It was a sort of a bastardized child of WinME, and WinNT, code named Janus. Think MS released 100 000 beta copies, and that was about as far as they got with it.

Win2K Pro drivers will work fine with Win2K Server. Just be advised that normal applications may or may not function properly.
