When I try to go into 640x480 it makes the monitor flash on and off, I'll post more information about it later. The card is a Gainward power pack golden thingy. I recently changed out the motherboard and cpu. It is now a 1.4 ghz amd but it did this before the mobo change. WHY!!!

why would you want the best video card out there to go to one of the lowest settings, there is no point, so i would not worry about that
It probably has to do with the operating system and the refresh rate for 640x480.
Post the os and refresh rate might be able to help.

Its not that I ever want to run a game in 640x480, its just when I start the computer and it goes through the bios and then the Windows ME splash screen, it flashes. Then if I have to run my turbo pascal in a DOS based screen, its in 640 nx480. And if I put windows in 640x480 it flashes. Paying that much for a vid card, you don't want to have any flaws. Though that is like buying a Suburban and saying it's "too big". Sorry bout the complaining. It just gets on my nerves. On 640x480 it flashes at anything below 140Hz. THe monitor is a KDS 21" Avitron.
