i just got a 17cm fan from the top of an ericsson mainframe. it is without a doubt the coolest computer fan i have ever seen, the only problem is it runs at 120v dc.

im thinking i can convert and old 300w powersupply to do the job, but i dont know how and am afrade of blowing myself up.

any suggestions?

Are you absolutely certain it's 120V DC?

If so, you could probably rig up a rectifier to convert 120VAC into 120VDC, and then use some kind of circuit (maybe capacitors and/or inductors) to smooth out the voltage.

I'm only guessing though.

its an ericsson fan
p# BKV 120 10

it has a + & - on top so im guessing its dc, im also guessing that the 120=120v cuz it runs a little slow at 12v
