First off welcome to the forums!

As far as drivers go in most cases you can use windows 2000 drivers, thats the first thing I would try.

To do a clean install you can boot off of the cd if it is rc 1 or 2. Then it will give you the option to format and so on just make sure that boot to cd is enabled before it boots to your hardrive. If you still want to make a bootable floppy you will have to do it on another computer as you can't do it in xp or 2000. There are some websites were you can download files to make a bootdisk but I don't know the links. I'm sure someone will though.

First I recommend doing a fresh install either way, upgrading is a nice convenience... temporarily. I am sure others will dispute it, but a fresh install will last you a lot longer, run considerably better, and be well worth the inconvenience of backing up the data you need/want and then moving it to it's new home on your fresh install.

As for the boot disk, definately a good thing. I do beleive that the XP cd's are bootable. It has been sometime since I did an install of it. Since a number of our servers and machines are down due to that damned virus from yesterday I will test it out for ya. I have a XP 2600 build cd here and will attempt to make a boot disk to help you out. I will also test that bootable cd comment as well.

Also, I always go out and grab the latest drivers for any hardware before I do any OS upgrade or reinstall. I will either burn them to a disc or dump them on a CD-RW if I can find one.

I did a fresh install with a Win98 start-up disk and just used the NT16.setup.exe file to get it to work. I could not get 2600 to install on boot.

I am running WinXP(2600). As far as "boot disks" are concerned, from my understanding there is no such thing. I believe they are just "startup disks". I've tried that to no avail. Although you can make your WinXP cd bootable. Try this http://www.windowsxp.nu/bootcd/ i hope this will help.

Gotta love those caps. That file I used may be wrong, I will try and find it. What it does is installs XP under a 16 bit enviroment, it is located in the XP files, not the boot disk. My Geforce 2 Pro has a massively modded Blorb with memory heatsinks.
