Yes there are MOBO's that cannot be OCed, I think you have one of those, you could of course try SoftFSB (http://www.octools.com/files/sfsb17g1.exe) or CPUboost (http://www.octools.com/files/cpu_boost.exe)

Good Luck

There are lots of motherboards that won't overclock. OEM computer builders (like Compaq, Gateway etc.) often use stripped down mobos with no end user adjustments. If you have an Intel brand motherboard (not just the chipset), then you have one of the boards that usually don't like to be overclocked. Sorry.

The more things that are adjustable on a motherboard, the better it is for overclocking. At minimum, FSB (bus speed) and CPU core voltage should have adjustable settings, preferable done in the BIOS. Some older motherboards had jumpers that you manually changed. With Abit and Asus motherboards (and others), you can enter the BIOS on boot up and override the default settings by entering in user defined settings.

SoftFSB is a shareware program you can download that allows you to "sometimes" change FSB on the fly while running in Windows. It doesn't always work and some motherboards are not supported at all. Generally, it's a last resort thing. Can't really lose much at this point and there is a slight chance you'll win the lottery and get to overclock your computer. :)

What is the easiest way to see if a motherboard is not OC'able?

See if it has an Intel sticker on it.
