hey all, ive sort of been interested in joining the folding team, its just i think i have a couple of roadblocks
firstly, neither of my pc's (see sig) have the internet :bang head
is there any way to work around that?
secondly, ive tried running folding on my parents p3, but my aunt noticed the difference in speeds and made me take it off :mad: :argue:
so.. any suggestions, id really like my A64 to do more than just sit there :santa2:
please dont be mad at me :cry: :(

Hi,

Unfortunately the PC does need to be connected to the internet to fold, unless you run the client on a USB thumb drive plugged into your Aunts PC and let it download a unit. Then remove the thumb drive and plug it into your PC and run the client on that PC. Then when it finishes plug it into your aunts PC to let it send the work back.

yes, there is a way to borg the comp that totally have no internet enable. although my english is no good, but i suggest you read my "cold borging" method, so that your a64 will do folding and help the team 32 :)

about sending the result and receive new wu(s), you can do that from an internet cafe. it's easier if you have a thumb drive (or any mobile storage).. :)

stupid A64 says whenever i plug something in, its not recognized or has malfunctioned..

what you can do is lets say you can get internet acess for a while but only rarely. You could download the quad installer and download 4 WU's and your computer will fold them (slowly though) and that will be like storing up WU's for the next time you can log on. So the next time you access the internet it would send in all 4 assuming you finished them all.
