View Full Version : Will this kill my cathode?
Ok well I bought two UV Cathode fans, and the acrylic grill that holds the cathodes on, extends off the fan.. so when I put them in, The grills hit the other fan's grill and the top of the psu so I cant fit both! I already tried cutting one.. not a great idea. Broke one, but thats okay. The idea I was thinking of is I have some perfectly clear tape.. Could I place tape over the cathode? Or would this cause it to overheat or pass electricity or something? If this is okay im going to do this.. Instead of taping the entire cathode onto the fan, I was thinking of doing specific spots.

are you trying to fix a hole in the tube? if you are, that will not work as the gas (cant recall what gas it is atm) and the voltage that the CCs work at will just pass right throught the tape!
No, Im trying to hold the tub onto the fan because the grill that is supposed to hold it on, hits my other fan, and wont fit for me to mount it.

Tape is fine to put on the cathode.

I have about 4 molex connectors taped to mine so they are not visible....i still get the same ammount of light...and the only problem i had was the inverter's crappy tape broke and the inverter fell, landed on my all alumiunum case, and caused a small elctrical fire....thank god my PSU has a circut breaker...
