View Full Version : Is this cooler good enough for a tbird 1.4??
im wondering if the noise control silverado cools my bird good enough?? http://www.microplex.no/produkter/kjolere/socketa/ncsilv/index.shtml
Right now i got a fop38 and a housefan blowing into my case too cool down my 1.4@1544 tbird.
Will the noise control be any better?? Or atleast as good as the fop38? I am so tired of the deltas noise so thats why im thinking of buying a new cooler.

hmmmmm i personally dont like the look of it..... you could always buy a centrifugal blower and fix to the FOP...... or buy an SK6 and fit a centrifugal blower.....
i may do this myself....
I havent read reviews about that HSF but from what i was able to see at the link you posted, it doesnt look too good :( the heatsink is too samall and its made of aluminum, another :(
so i wouldnt go for it, if you want and are tired of the delta noise maybe you should considere a Sunon fan, that way you can replace your current Delta and still get a good airflow and less noise ;)
Good luck and keep it KOOL!!!

the fop38 is different than the fop32
the fop38 is bigger in size
and i agree with meja.......the size of that heatsink is too small....making the centrualfigural <-- i cant spell........ fan useless

Check those links, read the reviews and make an educated choice.

i only need a cooler that can cool atleast as good as the fop38 BUT should give much less noise. Its sounds like a da*n vacumcleaner is running 24/7 i can even hear that thing one floor downstairs:( Also i havent found any store here in norway who got the millenium glaciator and if im gonna order it online i gotta pay lots of fuc*ing taxes
and using the 7v mod i bet will just fry the poor cpu

Mine is LOAD and dont give any good cooling. The temp right now is 58c idle with the chase closed:(
Also i dont need anything better than this, just more silent.....
Having a vacumcleaner running 24/7 gets annoying. Ionly need a fan that can keep my 1.4g in the low 50s, is this too much to ask from an cooler???

it's your case temps.............case cooling needed........dont' leave the case on if you have little airflow going through your case

WRONG!!
The FOP32-1 and FOP38 are the same heatsink the only difference is the fan. The 32-1 has a 4600 RPM 27CFM YS and the 38 (as all the global win 38's e.g. CAK38 WBK38) have the 7000 RPM 36CFM Delta

What is the difference in fop32 and fop32-i then?
And dosent anyone know of a fan that runs more silent than the fop38"delta38" but cools the same or better?

The Silverado is far too top-heavy for an HSF that only uses two socket lugs. Not only that, from what I've read it doesn't perform very well either.
You might try the Golden Gate from www.svcompucycle.com . I have one on my PIII 1Gig and it's not very loud. It uses a ~5000 RPM 60mm fan which still gives plenty of airflow. Not only that, the GG is a copper heatsink and it only costs $20.

If I were you, I'd ignore the people who just said, "I don't like the look of it" etc. The silverado is an excellent HSF, and extremely quiet. Tomshardware just included it in it's huge roundup of HSFs, and it beat out the CAK38(all copper with delta 38, I have one) but it was among the quietest tested. All around great HSF. If you can afford it, get it, I almost ordered one but shipping is expensive to get it to the states, and I decided to go with watercooling which I'll set up next weekend.
