So last month I got my new headset and set it up to do dictation in word and such. everything's a-ok, btu then my headset breaks and I send it to be repaired.
Now I have it back and have ALL KINDS of problems. Dictation in word wont work. when I go to the speech button under Control Panel I get an error about engine failing to load or something. It also wont recognize that im speaking into the microphone and I cant make new profiles. When I click on any volume button it says im missing some system 32 file and go to add/remove programs to install it which doesnt work. I cant find any files on Microsoft's website or on my XP disk or Office disks.
I don't know what's happened to the files they must have been there a month ago. The only thing I've done is have my Hijack this log checked by people who know that stuff and then remove all the spyware I couldnt get before. None of the files I got rid of even had remotely similar names to the ones I'm apparently Missing. Its getting pretty furstrating because I can;t do a system restore because of the spyware and having a 3-4 week period of resotre points to try.
I also tried to update the Audio Codecs that mircosoft Windows Update told me to and then it crashed my system and apparently deleted all the audio drivers and I had to rollback to before it to get them back (new ones wouldnt install).
So I WOULD GREATLY appreciate any help anyone has on this. If it matters I have XP home service pack 2 (had SP2 before the problems started).
EDIT: I found this on their website (its is exactly the problem (well one of them) i'm having, but they list 3 possible causes and the first one is a improperly configured audio device (which I doubt because i've tried antoher headset and it doesnt work either (plus this headset works in games). Another possible cause is a corrupted recording profile and their arent even any listed on the window anymore and the third is a corrupted lexicon file which i deleted according to workaround. Nothing.
Apparently they have a hotfix but it would cost me 35 DOLLARS to email them to send me the hotfix so.... They will be getting a not so nice phone call which is the only thing that doesnt cost me money to do. This is possibly the worst experience with Microsoft I've ever had and I just can't believe they dont have the hotfix up for free download.
