Anyone got a web site for drivers other than reactor critical. I use to have a site that had newer beta drivers that people made and tested they worked real well. Problem is comp. crashed and lost the site. Anyone have some links?????

there other sites but alas my system crashed, and i had to reformat my hard-drive, so i lost my links and can't post them:mad: but this is how i found the links: go to the video/sound card section of these boards and do a search for voodoo 5500. start reading your search results and you will find postings for links to sites with drivers. i use the omega drivers. note: tweakfiles.com no longer exists.:(

I would love to see what kind of 3dmark2001 scores you can get with the new drivers. My 5500 with the last 3dfx drivers runs between 650-700. That is pathetic!

thanks for the replys but system won't run 3dmark with new drivers keep[s crashing. going back to old drivers w/directx8a.
will run everything else unreal flyby mode, quake demo, for hours without trouble but it won't run 3dmark. Any thoughts.

i'm getting around 1640 on a p3 750 @922. 448 megs pc133@cas2. asus cuslc-2, the 5500 is overclocked to 187 and i'm using the omega drivers from 3dfiles. please have mercy on me geforce users.:)

on my iwill box in 2001 I get 2250 and the epox box with a v3 2000PCI i get 1600 but that is only 1024x768x16bit not 32bit like the v5.

sorry didn't fully clarify: that's at 1024x768, 32 bit, 3dmark 2001.

I mean look at my sig you would think my overall system wouldn't drag it down. I am using the last set of drivers that came from 3dfx.

is your anti-aliasing turned on? 3dmark2001 will say it is off even when it's turned on. if i turn on my 4x anti-aliasing my scores will drop to about 500. your rig should be smoking mine.

well that depends if you want high 3dmark 2001 scores. the advantage of the voodoo 5500 card is 4x anti-aliasing. it makes the images much smoother however this comes at the price of decreased frame rates. i would turn it off only if it decreases the playabilty (word?) of your games. myself i really havn't been playing the newest releases so none of the games i play really need the fps increase, the anti-aliasing gives a much better picture than increased fps on these games, however i'm sure the reverse is true for other games. all i can say is experiment. check Tweak3D.net for a v5 5500 guide.

OK I just ran it again.........how do you post a printscreen?

I got 2433..........I feel much better. I was thinking that my card stunk after I got it. I am an old 3dfx fan and knew this was my last chance to use a 3dfx card. So I searched everywhere when I got my new system and found this 5500. I realize the next one will have to be nvidia, but hopefully this will last a while.

My son only really likes games like Quake 2 and 3 so it should be ok for us for a little while.
