What is this? Virus? Trojan?

A friend of mine says while he was surfing he had a strange symbol appear suddenly in his system tray. He described it as a blue and a red line, running up and down not side to side, twisting around each other. I'm not sure but that sounds like he was seeing a double helix symbol, you know the dna thing. He asked me what it was and I said I'd think on it and get back to him. I don't know what it is. I've little experience with virusii (thankfully!) so if anyone of you know what it is and can gimmie some idea what to do about it you'd really be helping me keep up the image of being the go-to computer genius amongst my friends. Any ideas?

Its @Home's stupid connection helping wizard.... if you install their software, this thing installs and whenever there is a problem with the connection its supposed to help you get it back.

That's odd, I've never seen that on my system. But then thats probably because I manually installed my @home setup. Thanks for the info.
