I will be getting my MSI K7T Turbo back from RMA in a week and was wondering how far my Duron 950 will go. The Duron is a red core ANCA "9". Will I be able to run it on a 133 FSB? From what I've heard, the ability to run a Duron on a higher FSB depends on the board itself. The K7T Turbo I have ran my Duron 650 green core AKCA "9" at 133 x 7 (933 MHz) which had a 50% stability and easily ran it at 133 x 6.5 (866 MHz) which was stable as a rock. So I guess my question is, will my Duron 950 run 133 x 9.5 (1200 GHz)??

More likely than not, your 950 doesn't have too much headroom to work with. Most Durons, no matter what speed (except the Morgan-core 1Gs), seem to hit their ceiling between 1000 and 1150 MHz. Asking this CPU to hit 133 FSB without severely choking the multiplier. Which is okay - you'll get better performance, anyway. I wouldn't expect anything quite like 1200 out of it without radical cooling and voltage mods. 1100 to 1166 or so are definitely a possibility.

Your CPU doesn't care what FSB it's run at - as long as the multiplier is low enough as to not put it in unstable operating territory. If I were you, I'd try 8*133 (1066 MHz) and work from there. You'll find your CPU will top out at more or less the same speed no matter what FSB speed is specified. You just have to compensate with lower / higher multipliers.

Heck, give it a try....there's only one 950 in the database...add another entry and let us know!

And good luck.

Give that chip as much voltage as you can and it will fly a few hundred mhz, but the limits stated are correct.

How much can I push the FSB on Durons? Mine seemed to top at 135, thanks...

i had a duron 800 which ran at 1170

quite unbelievable
but it was watercooled though
if you will use your duron 950 with aircool then i think 1.1 is the top
