View Full Version : "no work from project"?
Im just curious what this [no work from project] means. One of my mahines has been getting it for the last day and 1/2 and is almost out of WU's :(. I have no idea what it means though.

I am getting the same thing. 1/2 of my machines are getting work and 1/2 are not.
Are we running out?
Wasting alot of time when they could be crunching.

Berkely has had major issues in the last week with a failed hardware upgrade and a hung validator. I've been lucky with getting work I guess as I believe all my machines are crunching. However rough guess says it's about 10,000 credits behind validating...just for me :(. Once they get things back to full swing then you should always have a full cache. FYI I keep mine @ 7 days which works out to more like 4.5 days with the benchmark so far off. Don't go to high as anything over 14 days old is junk.

I have mine set to 4 days.

I have had mine at one day but seeing as how unreliable the seti hardware is, I'll be upping mine to 4 or 5 days. I'm now out of work and accomplishing nothing.
I hope the seti folks get thier act together soon, or find new people to help them because this is absolutely rediculous. Good thing this isn't a money making venture ... they'd be bankrupt by now.

Just to remind everyone, when we have a little "bump in the road" such as the current troubles with the database server, it has a "ripple" effect throughout the plus or minus 50,000 accounts so even once the initial problem is ironed out it may take anywhere from a day to a week or more until the ripples smoothout and we are into clear sailing once again.
Just an advanced warning, Berkeley has stated that they are once again going to try getting the database server switched this coming Monday so that could result in some further short term bottlenecks. The long term projection is that once this switch is successfully completed everyone should experience much better stability and speed with any operation that involves the databases(which is darn near everything in SETI - BOINC).

My client just downloaded around 15WU so the cache on my Athlon is full :)
Seems like it is working now

Naw, I'm getting sqawt today. All machines idle. I'm shutting down BOINC for awhile, maybe a week till they get issues ironed out. No biggie. I could use the down time for machine maintainance.

With all the db problems they are running out WuWus. they have 3 splitters running, but the db is so IO bound they can't make them fast enough... So we will have to sit tight til early/mid next week. If your cache runs out, switch to one our other boinc teams for the time being. We have had these problems before... it will sort itself out soon enough. Remember, they are trying to run this project with little to no hardware (they are at least fixing that) and a small staff. lest all cross our fingers that monday goes well
