A lot of HD space missing

I just added a 500GB RAID array to my system (2x WD 250GB HDs) and when going into the Disk Management utility to partition the drives, Windows reports the array as 465.77GB. I know that 500GB is actually going to show up smaller than 500GB because of that whole 1024 thing, but 34.23GB difference? Sorry for the n00b question, but this is the biggest array I have ever worked with so I don't know if this is right or if Windows is not properly reading the amount of space I have. So, because of the conversion do I actually lose 34.23GB or is Windows somehow reading the array wrong? Thanks for your answers.

That sounds about right for size. Forgot what the actual conversion is per gig. But if it was off, you'd be missing 100's of gig, not just a few.

Ok its right around to around .93125% of the drive you get. So its almost dead on with your results. This is with a NTFS format on my drive here at work an 80gig is 74.5gig
