should i got with a celeron 900 with fan for 90 bucks
or a pentium 3 1ghz with fan for 250?

which would be more overclockable????

You need to realize the stepping is important.
Also is the 1ghz a 100fsb cpu or a 133fsb?
Performance will go to the P3 even if it does not overclock as well.

I would go for the celly just cuz the price. I bought a 1.5g p4 & 128 pc800 for WAY less than the price of the p3. Even after I pay more for the MB I still save $ over the p3.
