View Full Version : How to get screen to shutdown rather then standby.
Ok. I was wondering how to get my notebook screen to shutoff rather then go into standby mode when I flip the lid down. The only options in the power managment for "When I close the the lid of my portable computer" are "Do noting" & "standby".

My Toshiba has a special power management app with all kinds of nice options.....maybe you should look around on your lappy and see if they included something like that.

Go to power management and just set a time for the monitor to shut off after a period of about 15 minutes... It won't shut the screen off as soon as you close the lid, but it won't stay on forever. :)

Yes I do have the Dell software for it but I was removing some software last night with HijackThis and I think that might have messed up some options.
NiTrO bOiE - Yeah I just set it for 15 minitues. My screen does stay shutoff when I close the lid but any movement from the mouse or whatever will active the screen again. For now this will do but I am going to try to get it to work the way I want it too hehe :)

Rightclick on Desktop -> Properties -> Screensaver tab - > Monitor Power
Hmm it just isnt doing what I want it too. I removed some startup stuff with HijackThis, and I belive the 2 ati stuff I removed had something to do with this.
I re-installed Dell Quickset software and that didnt do me any good.
all i do is hit the power button and immedeatly close the lid and the comp goes into hybernation. i even stuff it into my notebook bag and takeoff while its still shutting down if i'm in a big hurry.
i did a few tests to see if it would overheat inside my notebook bag but at idle it manages to stick around 60c after an hour and a half inside. I love pentium m.
