View Full Version : post or wcpuid shows correct speed ?
i have 1.4 ghz at 11 * 140 (1.725 volts) and when i boot the comp it says 1540 like it should be, but sisoft sandra tells me its 1.56 ghz and WCPUID says "internal clock" 1557.50 and "system clock" 141.59..so which one should i trust, 1540 shown at post or 1557 ?

im not sure which one to trust but ill tell you what my bios says my chip is at 896mhz when i use sandra it says between 890-910mhz and mbm says 901mhz usually but if you keep going up at that rate you would be off as much as you are that high up theoretically speaking of course
ok...i guess the wcpuid and sandra (and mbm, i have to try that) are right and motherboards i mean bioses are just not very accurate (its soltek 75drv with award bios), but still its a bit weird that bios shows bus speed 140 when its in reality 141.59
You have to remember that clock-timings in computers are not an exact exact science. What you see in the BIOS is an exact number, but the ACTUAL number is probably slightly higher, thus attributing to your 20 Mhz gain. I'd take the WCPUID numbers as correct, because those are taken from the Windows environment, and therefore have a much more accurate reading.

cpus don't always work at the exact speed that u set for them
and actually they rarely do... exactly
it is normal that a cpu has a difference of +10mhz or -10mhz when checked in bios, wcpuid or watever :o

Wcpuid and sandra is right. Its normal that u will get a bit higher or less than what u set it too in bios.
