I just installed windows onto this (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-148-018&depa=0) hard drive, and I've been having some trouble with it. For one, windows keeps freezing for a few seconds, then returning back to normal. Also, just as I was installing some pretty big programs (games), windows freezes, reboots, then goes straight into autochk to scan the drive for errors. I get this checkdisk thing almost evey time I reboot, and every time it finds something, fixes errors, then boots back normally. Usually, I wouldn't care, but just as I was loading up Far Cry, it took over 10 minutes just to get past the intro, and the whole time I could hear my drive clicking from across the room (I've got an almost identical version, 80GB, which I can't even hear over my fans from 3 feet away). Should I replace it? Will Seagate replace my OEM drive?

Run the drive diagnostic software from the drive manufacturer and see if it tells you something is wrong with it. If so you have two choices. return it to newegg for a replacement or RMA it. If you return it to Newegg you will most likely recieve a new unit whereas if you RMA it you willl most likely recieve a reconditioned unit. Good luck. Here are two links for the software one is a sticky here and the other is a boot disk which has the software along with a ton of other tools on a bootable CD.

Edit: Sorry I read your post as it was a new harddrive. If this is not the case and you did not recently buy it from newegg then you can ignore the part about returning it to newegg.com. Sorry for the confusion.
