OK, im about ot overclcock a 900mhztbird....to 1ghz, nothing too serious. Just to see how it is done. I know how to unlock the L1 bridges, but I was wondering, what kind of h/f I have. Its BIG global win with a big fan and a silver heatsink..I know its not a cak38. Could it handle a 900-1ghz o/c?? MY temps are usually 100-110. I have 2 extra case fans. Can someone tell me, where and how to raise the voltage, and if I will have to in the first place. Also I need a good motherboard monitor offline, and a good burn in program. Where do I get sisoft sandra?? thanks for any help!

First of all, I think that you should begin by spending some time at the front page of this site reading the "Beginners Guides", when you're done with that spend some time reading the "AMD FAQ's" also found on the front page of this site.

After you do a bit of research to familiarize yourself with the process, I think we could be able to help you better with answers to specific questions. You are also going to have to provide some system information such as the CPU, motherboard etc.

For a burn in program, try joining the SETI team and run it 24/7. There are others as well, "SIS Soft Sandra CPU burn in" and "Prime 95" are two that come to mind.

As far as SIS Soft Sandra, try a search on your favorite search engine.

From my experience, as long as the Global Win is model FOP or later, you should have no problem at 1g or higher.

Try their website to identify the particular model hsf that you have. Get to them here;

Remember that a computer is a very sophisticated and expensive collection of electronic components. When you overclock it, you are going to be running the components under conditions that they were never designed for. It would be in your best interest to gather as much information as possible. Learn how the FSB affects the PCI bus and what happens when you change the memory timings etc. When you start running into problems you'll be one step ahead if you know how the different systems interact with other.

Good Luck!

From your description, I'd say that you have a FOP-38. It'll handle the temps (it handles my 1.2 quite nicely :))

Here's the link to the AMD FAQ....

AMDFAQ (http://www.overclockers.com/tips650)

Read up, even if they aren't questions you have at the moment, you might have them at some point. :)
