Don't know if anybody has posted this yet, but I was able to use regmon to find the registry keys that enable the greyed check box for 'Enable Read Caching' with the nVidia 32bit platform drivers.
I can't give you specific keys that you need to change because it will be different for everybody, but search the registry for a DWORD value named 'ReadAheadEnabled' (I'm pretty sure there are two per hard drive on your system). Change the value from 0 to 1 in order to enable read caching on your drive.
Probably won't make too much of a performance difference, and like I said, I don't know if anybody's posted this yet, but it's worth a try... :)
