View Full Version : I just got a great deal at Best Buy
Walked into the store just to check out what they had. There was a Gateway 7210GX on sale for like $950.00 A/R. So I ask the guy to check stock and he comes back and says the're all out. I try to cut a deal on the floor model but they wouldn't knock much off so I look in the cage and there are about a dozen 7215GX's but none on display. I ask the guy how much and he checks on the computer and shakes his head and says "Wow, the're $750.00, no rebate" Cash and carry. Anyway a great deal:
AMD Athlon XP-M 3000+ processor
15.4 WXGA
ATI Radeon IGP 320 (probably a weak link here)
802.11g
512 mb
60 gig h/d
firewire
(4) x usb
And a DVD burner!!!
This is a rockin' deal!

Not bad, provided Gateway sticks around long enough to cover any warranty issues you may have.
My roomate needs a laptop, maybe Ill take her down to Best Buy tommorrow.

If you are thinking about gaming, uninstall the Ati drivers and install the Omgea drivers instead. Mr B said he did this and noticed great improvements. Expect lag though.
Thats a fairly decent deal. Keep us posted if you plan to OC it.

Yeah, I am considering Oc'ing it. Are there additional considerations when oc'ing a lappy? I have my desktop (2500M) oc'd and have had zero problems with it. I am also running the Omega drivers on that so I will probably get them on here too. Thanks for the feedback.

Basically, you have to watch those temps. Laptops, due to lack of space are poorly cooled. It would help if you applied AS-5 and maybe try a ducting mod (that would be very hard I presume).
As for the power supply, watch your batteries. They may get drained faster than you think. You could've got a BB battery replacement plan and abused your lappy to the max ;)
I'm looking to order a replacement battery for my Averatec now before the model's discontinued and the supplies get diminished in a few years

?Que? Musta been my "alter ego" -=Mr B=-... I don't think I've ever run Omega drivers on anything..desktops included.
You're not gonna get incredible performance out of an IGP, regardless of the driver, I don't think...I'll agree on that point. ;)
