View Full Version : New WC'ing for me!

In the upcoming months, i will be putting together a DFI Lanparty 875P-T and Prescott (3.4 or 3.2) and i want watercooling back! :)

I would like to include a CPU and GPU block. I understand that it would be better to have them in series, but i just dont feel i can do this (hot water onto GPU :/) so i am proposing a dual-radiator loop.

I can get heatercores custom made, so that is not a problem.

From www.aquacomputer.com i am going to purchase the mounting kit to fit a radiator on top of the case. When i recieve them, i will know the dimensions for my big radiator. It will be dual 120mm fan-able, around 3-4cm thick.

The second radiator will be made to fit on the rear exhaust port of my case (Antec P-160) which is 120mm. This will be 2cm thick.

I was thinking of importing an AquaXtreme from the states, even with postage it wouldnt be as expensive as from the UK.

My question is; would i need 2 of these pumps to power this system? I'm sure i'd fit them in the case, or should i look at getting an ehiem (Because i'm going to need high head with decent flow). Eheim's i can get in my local aquarium shop.

I was going to go for a Swiftech 6002 for LGA775, but i am as of yet undecided on graphics block. This is going to be a 1/2" ID loop.

An help or suggestions or parts (or replacement parts) would be great!

The temperature difference in the water before and after the cpu is negligible. The added restriction of an additional rad in a single loop could be detrimental, and lead to higher temps than a single radiator loop (particularly if the single rad is comensurate in size to the two radiators you were going to use combined.)

I can get heatercores custom made, so that is not a problem.

Would it be cheaper to get a standard radiator, or do you have specific size/shape/quality concerns?

From www.aquacomputer.com i am going to purchase the mounting kit to fit a radiator on top of the case.

Would you have a link directly to the mounting you are talking about?
Would a self made bracket be more cost effective?

sounds like a dual fan BIX.

What size are the fittings: its sounds a bit restrictive.

I'm a bit confused on what you are asking here. The Eheim will not provide nearly as much head as the AquaXtreme 50Z-DC12.

I have heard good things about the 6002, and the silverprop (gpu) block(s) as well.

With the thread title, most people probably expected to see pics of a complete system rather than a list of proposed components.

Interesting, i guess i'll stick with a single rad then :)

Radiator mounting:

I want to use these because they have a high finish (Something i would not be able to recreate) and have a custom heatercore made to fit this mounting. I will not be buying the matching radiator from this site because it is 1/4" ID.

I guess i will get a 50Z imported then;

Keep my plans for a 6002 CPU block -- but what about GPU? R9800Pro

EDIT: Just found this nice 9800 block, shame it is 1/4" :(

Thanks for the reply, sorry for the ambiguety in the thread title.

I would not rule out ehiem, especially if you are charged a premium. You lose a bit of performance but get a quieter pump when you go with ehiem.

It may be worth using an ehiem because i can get it locally -- for warranty reasons.

Those are not bad pumps, but what about the Swifty 650 D4 pump. The new rev is much quiter(as far as the Buzz) and gives great flow with ample head :D

Dont know if i can find the D4 in the UK though... :/

I'd need to get a pump relay for the Ehiem aswell, gd it!

EDIT: Found the silverprop GPU blocks though :)
